Michel Fallon is a small producer from the Grand Cru village of Avize who produces just one Champagne—the blanc de blancs Ozanne—in the cellars of Jacques Selosse, where Michel has worked with the famous Anselme Selosse since 2000. The wine takes its name from the ancient moniker of Avize, which was known as “Ozanne la belle” until the year 796.
This non-vintage Champagne made its debut in 2008 and is still produced in extremely small lots. The Chardonnay is fermented in fût de chêne (oak barrels) and assembled in a solera-style system. The village of Avize, which is in the Côte des Blancs, is recognized for its extraordinary vineyards that feature chalky, limestone soils.
