The Christiana is a Grand Cru Saint-Émilion, sourced from a small parcel of vines, and tended by Catherine Grébaut. Catherine is the mother of Bertrand Grébaut, one of Paris’ most esteemed chefs and the creator of the restaurant Septime. This vintage was a joint effort of Catherine and Bertrand, and was aged in a mixture of amphorae, barrique and stainless steel. Catherine and her husband, Christian, inherited a one-hectare parcel of vines in Bordeaux that were planted in 1956 and moved there from Paris. Christian and Catherine little-by little began converting the plot over to Organic viticulture, taking a gardening approach to the quality of fruit. After the 2020 vintage, Catherine had some medical issues and decided to move on from the project; she and her son, Bertrand, released the wine all at once. Christian tragically passed away, and Catherine dove headfirst into tending to her vines.
