The higher, cooler vineyards in Dogliani with limestone and clay soils consistently produce the grape's most structured and expressive wines. Nicholas Altare's Dogliani DOCG is made with the same natural philosophy as the rest of the range, allowing the fruit to develop greater concentration while retaining freshness. It has depth and structure, with flavors of black cherry, blackberry, and violet, fine tannins, and the classic almond finish.  It pairs well with a heartier charcuterie board, or any more meat-heavy summer meals.
