Pierre-Olivier Garcia has quickly become one of Burgundy's most compelling young vignerons, applying the same meticulous farming and cellar work to regional appellations as many producers reserve for their top crus. Grand Chaliot comes from 60-year-old Aligoté vines planted in the limestone-rich soils of Prémeaux, just south of Nuits-Saint-Georges. The result is a serious, site-driven expression of Aligoté that combines freshness with remarkable depth. Citrus peel, green apple, white flowers, and crushed stone notes are wrapped around a textured palate that feels more Burgundy than simple Aligoté. Fermented and raised with a light touch, this is a wine that showcases why Aligoté has become one of Burgundy's most exciting categories.
