Stefano Occhetti Barbera d'Alba 2023
Tasting Notes
This 2023 Barbera d’Alba greets you with juicy red-cherry and raspberry fruit, layered with a hint of dark plum and wild herb. On the palate it’s vibrant yet balanced — lively acidity, smooth tannins, and a subtle mineral thread that gives the finish both lift and length. It’s approachable now, yet has enough structure for short-term cellaring.
Why It’s Special
-
Sourced from vines in the Sanche area of Vezza d’Alba (around 290 m altitude) with sandy soils — the result is freshness, elegance and clarity in the Barbera grape.
-
Crafted with organic-leaning vine work, spontaneous fermentations, gentle extraction, and modest ageing — a winemaking approach that highlights the grape and site rather than oak or heavy manipulation.
-
For your boutique clientele: a regionally authentic Piedmont red with personality, made for both friends of “cool Italian” and serious buyers who value terroir-driven bottles without extreme markup.
-
A versatile food partner: think rustic pasta, grilled vegetables, charcuterie boards, or even Sunday roast — all elevated by this Barbera’s juicy energy and fine structure.
About the Producer
Stefano Occhetti is a young winemaker based in the Roero region of Piedmont. He took over family vineyards, converted them to organic practices, and crafts wines with minimal intervention — native yeasts, concrete or older oak, low sulphur, and each vintage treated as a chapter in the story of place. With the Barbera d’Alba 2023, you’re getting a wine that reflects that philosophy: direct, real, full of character and built for now.
