Vincent Dancer Bourgogne Blanc 2023
Tasting Notes
A luminous straw-gold hue invites you in. The nose opens with delicate white flowers, crisp green apple, and pear, followed by a whisper of toasted nuts and flinty minerality. The palate is medium-bodied and fine-boned — elegant rather than opulent — with bright acidity and a satin texture that leads to a clean, poised finish. The early-picked fruit lends freshness and clarity, while the gentle oak touch rounds everything out beautifully.
Why It’s Special
-
Though labeled simply Bourgogne Blanc, the fruit comes from parcels in Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet — so it dramatically over-delivers for its appellation.
-
Farmed organically and made with low-intervention precision: native yeasts, minimal new oak, and a steady hand in the cellar let terroir lead the way.
-
This is a “gateway Burgundy” with pedigree — approachable now, structured enough to age a few years, and priced far below where its quality sits.
-
A perfect bottle for anyone chasing serious white Burgundy character without crossing the $100 line.
About the Producer
Vincent Dancer — now joined by his son Théo — has become one of Burgundy’s most respected grower-winemakers. Originally from Alsace, Dancer established his domaine in Chassagne-Montrachet in the 1990s and quickly earned a reputation for purity and precision. The vineyards are farmed organically, the cellar work kept minimal: gentle pressing, natural fermentation, old barrels, and no fining or filtration. His philosophy is simple — “the vineyard makes the wine.” The result is crystalline, expressive Chardonnay that speaks fluently of place and vintage.
